How to get there
Munich Airport is located just off the A92 between Munich and Deggendorf and is accessible from four motorway exits. Connect to the A92 from the A99 Munich ring road from southern and eastern destinations. Alternatively, take Route 388 from Munich towards Erding, and turn off north for the airport just before reaching Erding. Once at Munich Airport, follow the signs to Terminals 1 or 2.
Commuter trains S1 and S8 depart to various Munich stations (journey time: around 30-45 minutes; fare: €10.50), including Munich Hauptbahnhof, Marienplatz, Laim and Ostbahnhof, where rail connections are available to major German cities and European destinations. S8 is the quicker of the two services, but is less frequent. Bus and coach services run to Munich and the surrounding areas. Autobus Oberbayern (tel: (089) 323 040; www.airportbus-muenchen.de) runs a Lufthansa Airport Bus service to central Munich (journey time: 35-40 minutes; fare: €10.50). During large exhibitions another shuttle bus service connects to the München Messe exhibition centre. Information and tickets are available from the Service Centre (tel: (089) 9752 1375) on level 3 of the Munich Airport Centre. Bus connections are also available to Salzburg, Innsbruck and other nearby Austrian cities.
Taxis are available from Munich Airport to the city centre (journey time: 45 minutes; fare: from €55).
Underground car parks P1, P2, P3, P4 and parking areas P9, P10 and P20 offer short-term parking facilities (up to one week) near the terminals. Long-term parking is available in P20, which is next to the Kempinski Hotel. Other parking close to the terminals can be found in multi-storey car parks P6, P7, P8, P25 and P26. Car park P41 at Nordallee offers weekly rates and is served by a free shuttle bus to the airport. Additional car parks include remote parking facilities at car park P51 and the visitors’ car park P53. Valet parking is also available.
The 24-hour Parking Office (tel: 0900 172 7537) is in the Munich Airport Centre, on level 3. Spaces are bookable online via the airport’s website.
