How to get there
The Swiss sector of the airport is accessible from the N1 motorway. From central Geneva, take Rue de la Servette northbound and turn eastbound onto the N1, which leads to the airport.
From France, take the D1005 from Ferney or the D984F from Saint-Genis-Pouilly to the border and then turn onto the N1 westbound or eastbound respectively.
In order to avoid Swiss territory entirely, drive via Ferney-Voltaire near Collonges on the D984; at Ferney-Voltaire, follow the signs for Geneva and, just before Swiss customs, take the road on the right to the airport’s French sector.
Passengers arriving at Geneva Airport are entitled to complimentary use of public transport within the canton of Geneva for up to 80 minutes. The free Unireso tickets are dispensed from a machine in the baggage collection area at Arrivals. Alternatively, The Swiss Pass offers unlimited travel on the Swiss Travel System network for either 4, 8, 15 or 22 consecutive days or an entire month. More information can be found at www.railaway.com.
There is a railway station opposite the entrance to Geneva Airport and regular trains departing from there to the city centre (journey time: 6 minutes). There are also direct trains to destinations throughout Switzerland and other European countries. For more information, contact SBB (tel: 0900 300 300; www.sbb.ch).
Buses 5, 10, 23, 28 and Y serve neighbourhoods in and around Geneva. For those travelling into the city centre it is probably quicker and easier to get a train.
Free shuttle services depart regularly from outside Arrivals for the following hotels in Geneva: Crown Plaza Geneve, Express Holiday Inn, Ibis, Povenpick Geneve, Nash Airport Hotel, NH Geneva Airport Hotel and Starling Geneva Hotel and Conference Centre.
Taxis can be hailed outside Arrivals. Typically a fare into the city centre will cost CHF30.
There are 265 short-term and around 4,700 long-term parking spaces, plus an additional 220 parking spaces in a dedicated French-sector car park, all with easy access to the main terminal. An economy car park is also available for long-term parking. For further information, call the airport’s parking office (tel: 022 717 7099).
